Chapter 159: Blamed For Neglecting Duties
Annalise let out a long sigh as she closed the door of the last guest room that she was just done decorating for Leela. It was located on the same floor as her bedroom as she was a girl and it didn’t seem right to put her in a room on the second floor among three men.
The servants had left several windows open throughout the castle to let the natural light filter inside but as it was nearing dusk, Sera and Mr. Warren had closed all the windows, and now the only light filling the insides of tge castle belonged to the lanterns and candles that were among one if tge newest additions Mr. Warren had done in the castle to make it livelier.
She was on her way to the staircase to head downstairs and find others when she was suddenly pulled inside a room that was right next to her bedroom.
"What..." Her sharp voice trailed off when her eyes met the gaze of the man who just pulled the stunt and almost scared her in the process. "What do you think you are doing?" She questioned Kenric in a displeased tone as she tried to step away from the man.
However, she soon found herself pinned against the wall as the man caged her with his body and his hands that were placed firmly against her waist. "Stop running away, Little bird. The more you are running, the more it’s making me want to chase you." His voice was low and carried a warning that made Annalise forget about everything for a split second.
But she soon returned to her senses as she shook her head but relaxed as she slowly moved her hands to rest against her husband’s muscular arms. "You seem to be on edge. What’s wrong?" She might not be bonded with him through a soulmate bond yet but that didn’t mean she couldn’t read his emotions at all. She could tell that something was weighing on him.
Kenric let out a small breath before his stiff shoulders relaxed a little and he replied, "I am." He didnt refute and just admitted that there was indeed something wrong. "I just feel like I’m not getting enough of your attention and it’s driving me crazy and my soul, my body, my powers, and my heart... everything seems to be wanting only you."
Annalise felt her throat drying up at his confession and the raw emotions in his eyes and voice. "Kenric, I’m sorry if I made you feel that way but trust me... you matter to me no less than your brothers. I..." She trailed off when tge man started shaking his head, not understanding what he meant by that gesture.
"That’s not what I mean, wife."
