Chapter 45: The Beautiful Meadow
The cool breeze greeted Annalise as her eyes fluttered open and she found herself looking up at the blue sky with huge puffs of white clouds that had hidden the sun completely.
The birds chirped nearby and the trees rustled with the wind. The air was filled with the sweet scent of flowers that were growing all over the long meadow where she was currently laying.
The sudden realization of her beautiful but unknown surroundings hit her hard as she finally came out of the slumber of her sleep.
"You are awake." A voice spoke from beside her as a muscular arm came to wrap around her waist before a soft kiss was placed against her temple.
Kenric!
She turned her head to look at the man lying beside her on the grassy floor whom she failed to notice during the initial shock state because of her surroundings.
The last thing she recalled was retiring to bed after a long shower and she did fall asleep within a couple of minutes, and now she was in the middle of a beautiful meadow that seemed like a place not existing anywhere near the entire capital city, let alone the Cursed Castle.
"What is this place?" She asked she looked at his dark brown eyes looking back at her with softness and warmth filling them.
In response to her question, Kenric snuggled his face in the crook of her neck as he replied, "Dear wife, it’s our secret place. Yours and mine." He sounded pretty proud of himself as he confessed.
Annalise would surely have asked him more about the place if not for getting distracted by his mouth that started trailing kisses against her racing pulse, sending shivers down her spin that seemed to settle in her lower belly.
His fingers traced the neckline of her outer robe before he slowly pulled it down one of her shoulders, leaving it completely bare to him as her silk chemise was a sleeveless one. His fingers then traced a fiery path down her shoulder to her arm, resulting in sparks that erupt all over her body.
Annalise squeezed her eyes shut as she tried to keep her breathing in control, forcing the sensations attacking her body to not make her lose her sanity.
