Chapter 31: The Flowers Bloomed (Part One)
"My Lord..."
Annalise stood near the entrance of her bedroom as she stared at the man who was standing next to the huge open window filled with vines while looking outside at the star-filled sky.
She heard the bedroom door losing behind her before a strong but warm force of magic pulled her towards her husband, closing the distance between the two of them and making her end up standing right next to him.
This was one of those rare moments where she got to see any of her husbands using their powers and once again she realized just how powerful they were. The aura that they carried around them already declared their strength in controlling the superior magic but something kept telling her that the Dark Lords were may more powerful than she was imagining them to be.
"You are nervous." It was not a question. And when Kenric turned to look at her directly in the eyes, she noticed the glint that hinted at his teasing attitude towards her.
Annalise found herself looking away because staring into those deep obsidian eyes of her husband was proving to be a really hard job for her. She felt like his eyes were taking off all her layers and trying to expose her to him. "I... I’m just not prepared... I think." She muttered as she pinched her fingers to hide her embarrassment.
"What are you not prepared for?" Kenric asked as he took hold of her chin between his thumb and foreigners and raised her head to make her look into his eyes.
"I... that... I..." Annalize was at a complete loss. The incoherent words leaving her mouth caused a twitch to appear on Kenric’s lips as he tilted her head backward and inched his own face closer to hers.
Annalise could feel her body reacting to his nearness and his warmth. Weaves of sparks started flying all over her body and her heartbeat escalated. As for her breathing... she realized that she had been holding her breath and the realization made her hurriedly let out the breath and take a deep one.
