Chapter 40: RED SUITS YOU BEST
While Hazel watched bullets embedded in their chasers’ bodies, Ranon took this moment to observe her.
There was no fear, only slightly surprised, because she didn’t expect this would be his plan all along. She wasn’t even scared when she saw blood and dead bodies, as if she had witnessed something like this countless times.
Who was this woman, actually?
Ranon was both intrigued and annoyed because Hazle didn’t want to explain where her weird behavior came from.
Or probably, she was always like this since the very beginning, but the rumor about her and all the casual information that he gathered had been wrong. Rumor could be wrong, so was his intelligence. It was indeed; you should know someone closely to say that you really knew them.
This conclusion explained some of Ranon’s curiosity, but it didn’t satisfy him.
Meanwhile, Hazel watched everything unfold and then ended gloriously with blood and bullets on the floor. It was a little messy, but Hazel assumed Ranon would have his own ’clean-up team.’ She didn’t ask him about it because he had been very curious how she knew a lot of things and her odd response to stressful situations.
"What now?" Hazel turned around only to find Ranon had been staring at her.
"I will take you home." He stretched out his hand and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. His movement was very casual.
"You should have let one man live so you could interrogate him." Hazel stared at the eight men that emerged from their hiding spots; they nodded politely at Ranon when he walked out of the car.
Ranon opened the door for Hazel and helped her to get off the car. He pointed at two men who were groaning in pain; the bullets hit their shoulders and legs, immobilizing them. "Those are alive."
