Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World

Chapter 491: Chimera Traits

The male humanoid stepped forward to Kael and spoke calmly, "Greetings All-King, if you don’t mind, I’m here on behalf of the Cosmic Research Coalition.

My name is Gabby, King of the Elix clan."

Kael sized this humanoid male top to bottom, reading as deeply as he could.

This person called Gabby was an interesting individual. He had four arms and some runic tattoos on his body.

Added to the two distinct auras of Wrath and Magic, Kael guessed that this was a chimera.

Technically, besides Ozia, this was the first true lion chimera Kael was actually meeting.

This was his first time coming in contact with one too.

Gabby wore a simple black leather trench coat that had four sleeves for each of his arms. His inner wear was also black.

His eyes were unnaturally calm and steady, reminding Kael of an immovable mountain.

Two of his arms were positioned half folded in front of his abdomen and the other two were placed behind his back.

He stood tall, easily over six feet which was the minimum standard height for lions in their humanoid form.

He didn’t look bulky though, he was more on the lean side, like he was hiding a very low-fat athletic body underneath his clothes.

Everything about him just spoke of calmness and steadiness. He gave one the feeling of being close to a reliable rock.

From the four arms that Kael and the others could see, it was clear that he had Earth powers, and the runes on his four exposed knuckles showed that he also had Magus powers.

An Earth-Magus chimera.

Kael was intrigued.

"Gabby?" Kael asked.

"Yes, All-King, that’s my name," Gabby said while bowing his head slightly to show respect.

There was something about the way Gabby acted that reminded him of N’bayé.

Kael had no way to know as he had not been interacting with his Gabby for a long time but he guessed that he wouldn’t be completely like N’bayé.

Magus Lions and Lionesses like N’bayé and Xu Ying had emotional suppression as a byproduct and tended to act with cold, brutal, logic.

They preferred to operate with clear rationality when making decisions.

Ozia also had this trait and it tended to come out sometimes. For example, he was no longer putting that much importance on his mother and was starting to become emotionally independent for himself.

He was learning fast.

Unfortunately, these other powers had traits that could influence this at any time under any circumstances.

His war powers came with traits of being somewhat simple-minded and being susceptible to clever mind games.

It could explain why Ozia found it easy to switch from arrogant and cocky to calm and detached around certain people or during certain events that sparked his curiosity.

This Gabby was probably the same. He surely had a cold and calculating side that intertwined with the nonchalant, reserved, and calm nature of the Earth Lions.

These traits would be intertwined so well that it would become hard to distinguish which mode he was in. Sometimes, both traits could be working at the same time.

Ozia was fully capable of being arrogant, emotional, and detached, at the same time.

Constantyne, the tiger chimera was also like that, fusing the traits to make him the violent and bad-tempered tiger that he was.

It was incomprehensible to most lions, but for chimeras, it was a normal thing.

"Do you think you’re smart?" Kael suddenly asked.

Gabby raised an eyebrow, what a strange question.

"I’d like to assume I am," Gabby confessed with humility.

"Okay," Kael nodded, "What is the Cosmic Research Coalition?" He asked.

Gabby seemed prepared for this as he puffed his chest out slightly. He had prepared an explanation for everything and was ready to give a different definition than what Exalon or any others had given him.

"The Cosmic Research Coalition is a lion civilization organization that is focused on the research and development of theories and technologies.

You can say we are philosopher kings, desiring to spend our time studying the mysteries of the universe and looking for ways we can apply our knowledge to the world and optimize the whole civilization for a better future.

We have hopes that if we can keep on expanding our knowledge, we can finally reach our goal of conquering the whole known universe.

We don’t discriminate when it comes to knowledge, all forms of knowledge will be studied. Not just for applying it, but for the sake of it.

As long as you offer a semblance of curiosity to our vision and you are willing to learn, we welcome all with open arms..."

Gabby paused, bringing his folded arms lower so that it didn’t seem disrespectful.

"... Unfortunately, not all lions are interested in exploring the secrets of the universe. They just want the knowledge applied to their technology." Gabby completed.

Kael nodded, "That’s not much different from what I’ve been told.

And why did you come here?"

Gabby glanced at Kael before bringing his gaze down. He was at tier 6 power level but didn’t want to spoil any relationship with Kael just because he couldn’t look away from Kael’s eyes.

"We assumed that you knew already.

That projectile weapon you used during your ’meeting’ with the String of Fate Coalition, we were wondering if you still had more.

We are interested in studying it and its effect, how it works, and how it doesn’t work. We have never seen anything like it.

The only thing we have close to that is the limit seals and those are barely reverse-engineered.

If you could help us out, we would be indefinitely grateful to you," Gabby said, bowing with a steady look in his eyes.

It was just as he had rehearsed.

There was a period of silence. Alora and Shawty had already found some pillow sofas to sit on and were sitting comfortably while subtly listening to the conversation between Kael and Gabby.

Kael did not need to speak telepathically as he had no reason to hide the conversation. Gabby would still report back to the other members of the Cosmic Research Coalition anyway.

"I asked if you were smart, Gabby," Kael said, his voice taking a deeper, more intimidating tone.

Gabby frowned.

"You basically said you think you were," Kael shook his head.

"But now, you speak to me as if I’m dumb if something.

You just came in here and asked for my weapon and you think I’ll just give it to you?

Just like that?"

Kael leaned forward as his oppressive aura was released.

Gabby remained at his spot and remained quiet. But he could feel the false pressure on his mind and was surprised at how heavy Kael’s aura was.

The sudden rise of Kael’s aura caused a chain reaction. Alora and Shawty were surprised to feel hundreds of terrifying killing intent coming from different directions.

Hundreds of lion kings close by had immediately set their senses on this place and prepared to act with the intention of killing every visitor in that room.

Gabby felt all the killing intent lock on his body and gulped, trying to maintain his calm expression.

So many, he was glad he had been the one who was sent and not one of those arrogant guys who liked taking things by force.

One wrong move and everything would be for naught.

"Forgive me, All-King. I was under the presumption that you would not need anything that we had to offer." Gabby said apologetically.

"And why would you assume that? Did you even try to offer anything?" Kael said while keeping in mind his image.

It would seem weird if people found out that Kael was also concerned about wealth.

Well, Kael wasn’t too concerned because he knew that all the lions and other vassals in his system were part of his wealth.

What Kael wanted in this situation was something else. He wanted access.

"You’re right, there’s not much you could offer that would be of use to me in the long run.

But there is something you could do." Kael said.

"What is that All-King, I’ll try my best to do what I can," Gabby said.

"It’s nothing much. I just want you and the members of the Cosmic Research Coalition to join the lion system," Kael said, his golden eyes looking directly into Gabby’s.

"Oh," Gabby paused.

"Do you have a problem with that?" Kael asked. There were so many threats stuffed into that single question and Gabby had to be very careful with the next words that came out of his mouth.

"I’ll..." Gabby was saying. His senses noticed the number of killing intent being locked on his position was slowly increasing.

He even swore that he could hear rapid breathing caused by extreme impatience.

Were they waiting for him to say something?

But Gabby couldn’t just make a decision like that. Kael had what they wanted but many of the Cosmic Research Coalition members were neutral with some small factions siding with Ma’abu and the Anti-Primordials.

This was a sticky situation.

Suddenly, Kael stood up, causing the atmosphere to become incredibly tense.

"Let me help you make your decision better.

N’bayé, come!"
