Chapter 163: Slept Together!
"Damon..." Her voice was barely a whisper, breathless with longing. It took everything in her to say his name again, to resist the pull he had on her.
The man stirred, a low, guttural moan escaping his lips as he shifted slightly in his sleep. That sound was deep and primal and dragged something from inside her, something she didn’t know she had the strength to hold back.
"Damon... please, wake up." She leaned closer, her breath ghosting against his skin. Desperation laced her voice, but so did something darker and needy. If anyone saw him here, sprawled across her bed like he belonged there, the scandal would be impossible to silence. The maids would talk, the walls would whisper, and soon the whole estate would burn with rumors.
But worse than that, worse than the threat to her reputation was the storm raging inside her.
Her fingers ached to trace the ridges of his chest, to explore the firm lines of muscle she could see even beneath his shirt. Her eyes dropped to the faint scar that peeked through the fabric she wanted to press her lips to it, to know if it still hurt him, or if it would hurt her more to touch it.
She was losing her mind.
Her breath hitched as he shifted again. "Hmm?" he murmured, voice low and rough from sleep.
The sound curled around her like smoke, hot and dizzying, and she realized with a sinking heart that she wasn’t sure she wanted him to wake up... or what she might do if he did.
She looked away and closed her eyes and then inhaled a few breaths. Just when she thought she was in control, he stirred and pulled her closer. His soft lips placed a faint kiss on her neck. Her collar bone shifted at her place. Her skin burnt and the scalding heat spread all over her body like a jolt of fire.
