Chapter 133: Cherish It Well
"....." Edward took the papers and signed them. He had brought her here to trap her not to be trapped. But what had he expected! Looking at her confident face, he should have known he was bound to fail.
"Here, my lady. Now will you please elaborate?" Olivia did not open the file when he passed it to her but simply kept it beside her. She nodded and asked him to lean closer with a wave of her hands.
Edward frowned. There was no one in the room. Why would she whisper?
"The associates were offered wealth. But as we both know they do not need it. They had high expectations from the crown prince. But his haughty attitude is ticking them. You need to be humble for once your highness. And you are talented when it comes to stealing hearts.
The princess had personally come as an associate. She is under a facade, so no one knows who she is. If you win her heart, she will give you a chance. As long as you convince her to give you a chance instead of prince Elios. I will bring the deal for you, your highness. But this much, you have to earn yourself." she smiled sweetly looking helpless while Edward looked at her with an astonished face.
His lips parted but words failed her. He did not know how to respond.
"How...! I have been in the palace all this time yet I do not know about the envoys. How do you even know about their hidden identity?" he gasped again just thinking about it. A strange wild thought crossed his mind. "Olivia! Even with my full power, I can not save a witch. If you are found doing witchcraft you would be burnt in stakes."
Looking at his terrified face, Olivia blinked and then she laughed. Edward was stunned to see her laughing so freely. Most of the time, the evil smirk she gave was condescending. Or the forced smile when he touches her looks pretentious.
She looked much more stunning when she smiled like that. Her bright hair shone under the sunlight and her lively eyes shone like a rare gem. He did not realize he was staring at her until she shook her head and looked at him apologetically.
"Your highness, if I had been a witch, I would have used my powers in controlling lord Damon and taken care of the duchy myself. I did not let my sisters wander around asking for help when she got none." The smile on her face was cold again. Edward felt at loss when her expressions changed.
Her eyes were so cold that even he shivered looking at her. Oriana had requested a meeting with him, but he was making excuses to postpone it. He knew Oriana would demand the duke’s rights for her own son. But if he did not help Damon, Elios would.
