Chapter 111: The News Has Arrived!
"When you need nothing from him?" Olivia watched Damon in confusion. Her brows furrowed as she kept staring at him under the setting sun. His face gleamed brightly under the warm rays of the twilight.
"It can’t be that you are worried about me? Then why are you suddenly so curious?" she whispered, stunning him for a second. But it looked like she spoke more to herself than him.
Yet he was dumbfounded. Yes! Why did he care?
"If you have a relationship with the royal family, Orina’s position would only be stronger in the family. How would I fight with her then?" he spoke hurriedly as if he was afraid that his thoughts would scatter if he did not whisper them.
Olivia’s eyes flickered and then a cold smile appeared on her lips.
"I am not planning to challenge your position, my lord. I will support you when the time comes. As I have already signed a contract with you, I have made it clear that I do not want anything except survival. As long as you do not accuse us of treason or claim our lives, the duchy would belong to you." she bowed her head slightly.
Damon felt a strange itch in his chest. He wanted to tell her that he did not care about it. He was not accusing her either. But as he looked into her cold eyes, he felt at a loss of words. His chest felt heavy and he could not speak freely.
"That.. how can i trust you?" great! Was he even challenging her words now? What was wrong with her brain?
As expected, her face changed and she looked uneasy. He wanted to tell her that it was fine, but his lips just could not move.
