Chapter 472: I Love You!
A strange uneasiness filled Max as if he was doing something wrong. He shook that thought away. The girl was his girlfriend. The only girl who accepted his tight schedule, smiled at him and even slept with him. Though his memories were hazy, he remembered doing it with her.
He looked at the watch. "I have come for a meeting. But I would be in my office in half an hour. Would that do?"
"Yes, thank you, max." The girl looked relieved by his simple words and the guilt in his chest rose. He quickly cut the girl and went to find Nat. She was standing near the balcony. And his hands itched to pull her back into the room. Or stood behind her and scan any possible threat.
He made sure he would not do that. She did not need a guardian and he was beaten enough for today.
"Natalie." she turned to look at him smiling. The rays of sun falling on her back, her eyes shone and his heart skipped a beat. He must have lost it.
"I need to go to the hospital." she nodded relieved. "I.. I will be late. So you can cook whatever you like and leave my dinner in the fridge. You can call delivery if you need anything but do not open the door without checking their identity or you can call me. I will bring things when I return. Please be safe and do not leave the house without informing me." Nat heard his instruction with occasional nods and patient smiles. When he sighed, she laughed.
"I will not die so easily. I have fought battles." Why did her words not make him feel easy? He shook his head and closed the door behind him.
The drive to the hospital only took ten minutes. He had taken the house only because it was close to the hospital.
As soon as he entered, the nurse came to him with a lot of files.
