"No, Nora," he said, his voice lower now, steady. "He’s the lucky one. I’m sure there were plenty who would’ve waited their whole lives for a chance with you."

"Wait here. I’ll bring the car." He turned without waiting for her reply, disappearing into the dimness of the parking lot.
