Chapter 180: Nora, My Love!
Nora stared at the missed calls on her phone. She took a deep breath and dialed the number.
"Hello!"
"Where are you, Nora?" The shaky voice made her feel guilty further. "If Alex is forcing you, I will break his bones." but the threat made her laugh again.
"..." victor was stunned by the laughter in reply. He stared at the phone to make sure Nora had called and he was not hallucinating.
"Nora! Where the hell are you?" he growled, his furious voice was barely controlled, making Nora stop laughing.
"Do you think Alex would do that?" she whispered softly, helplessly, "do you think i will just run away? Why would I need that? I have been interested in him, I would have dated him openly, Victor. I would have refused you and chosen him. Why would I leave my career, my education, my family and my future behind for him?" she leaned on the bed and stared outside.
"I... then the rumors." he let go of the breath he was holding, "i knew that they were wrong. I knew they all were wrong. Where are you?" if she had not noticed the strain in his voice and exhaustion in it, she would have scolded him further for being so naive.
"I was looking for Alex because I needed his help. But when I went out to look for him, I met a few ruffians. They attacked me. I somehow ran away, but I got injured. So, I am in the hospital." this was not the first or the last time she had lied to Victor, to everyone around him.
"Oh! Damn Nora, why did you not tell me? You must have been serious while i... forget it! Which hospital?" she could hear the voice of his footsteps and the car engine and sighed.
