Chapter 77: Sleeping Medicine
The reporters all smiled at Nora before walking in and surrounding Alric. They all looked no less than the predators who had found their hunt.
"So, Mr Alric, can you tell us why the child is not treated when your hospital claims that they even treat those who did not have money to pay?" asked a man with a vicious look on his face, "could it be just a gimmick to get tax redemption from the government and donations from other families?"
"Not only that, you have gained a lot of new patients. They prefer your hospital despite their exorbitant charges so that they could be part of your charity system. Is that all a lie?" asked another.
"Mr Alric.." soon they all covered him without giving him a chance to speak. Though his expressions were still calm, his eyes had darkened and turned cold.
"Hahahahaha!" but a noise of heavy laughter broke the tension in the air. They all glared at the girl. Though she had helped them in entering, if she continued to disrupt their interview, they would show no mercy to him.
"I have been getting treatment here for a long time, not because they were doing charity work. I get treatment here because of the qualified doctors and their facilities. I never knew that anyone would put their life in danger just because they wanted to be part of the charity program. How noble!" she smiled innocently as if she was just letting the idea sink in and it sounded ridiculous. But the expressions of the reporters changed.
The woman on the sidelines also gritted teeth. She had stopped making noise because she had believed that the reporters would do their task perfectly. And the child in her arms was getting heavier for her to hold.
"What do you know?" the woman spat viciously, "these kinds of people make their reputation using us as cannon fodder. They have promised us treatment but it was only a lie to gain applause." she covered her face as if she was trying to hide her tears. Her shoulders trembled and many started whispering again.
Alric did not look at the woman, he had handled so many vicious attacks like that in the past. But his eyes were still on the girl who was smiling. What was she doing here anyway?
