Chapter 76: A Scandal
Alric drove the car faster. He had no destination in mind. His phone was already on mute, but in the silent car, even its vibrations make a noise strong enough to get his attention. His eyes started to turn colder and colder. In the end, he picked up the phone and threw it on the backseat.
The phone cracked and finally it stopped ringing. Alric stopped the car and came out. He had already driven to the hospital even when he had no destination in his mind.
He stared at the large building. Many people were coming in and going out. He took out a cigarette and lit it but he did not put it in his mouth but kept holding it in his hands as he watched the crying couple.
His eyes settled on the unconscious child they were holding in their arms.
"I have already told you to contact the charity section. Our hospital did take those kinds of cases but not in the emergency ward. Go there and explain your issues. I am sure they will help. Now please leave the way for others." The staff was still polite as they explained to the parents. But the parents keep crying and begging. At one point, the staff lost his temper and felt irked.
But before he could say so, Alric had already walked to them.
"What is the issue?" His voice was calm but a layer of frost had covered his face.
"Sir!" The man was surprised. "This child here is suffering from pneumonia. I have informed them about her charity patients ward. But they are begging that I take the child to the emergency ward. I would have considered it if the child needed emergency treatment but he is not in life danger. I have explained it thrice already but the couple did not listen and create a scene." The man looked exhausted while dealing with the couple.
When the couple heard the respectful voice, they looked at Alric with bright eyes.
