Chapter 13: Challenged
The doctor frowned while Alric's eyes narrowed on the bed. The sound was coming from the other side.
"Please do not drown me. I.. i will behave from now" this time the voice was clear that everyone could hear what she said. The quivering of the voice and the pain and fear of the speaker was so clear that it left a shiver to the listener.
The doctor was the first to run toward the source. Alric followed only to see a girl shaking on the ground. Her eyes were closed, her body was curled into a ball and she was screaming to spare her.
Her face was covered with cold sweat. As if she was fighting a nightmare. Penny's eyes widened hearing her screams. David was no better.
He knew these men were trouble but he still let them in because he was sure that Nora would not speak anything against him. But who would have thought.
The doctor crouched on the ground and touched her but Nora flinched as if she was scalded.
"Penny.. No mistress, i.. I will be good." she was quivering and begging for mercy making the doctor sigh.
Alric looked at Penny who was sitting dumbfounded on the bed. They have already noticed her torn dress and the mark of a belt on her skin. They were raw and red, freshly made. It had only been hours since she was beaten looking at the fresh scab forming on the wounds.
"So she is treated well?" Alric's lips arced into a mocking smile. He raised his head and looked at David as if he was a criminal.
