They finally crossed the bridge to the other side of the city. Olivia’s gaze wandered over the ruined city.
Her mind replaying fragments of the world her parents once described—a place of laughter, bustling streets, and carefree youth. A world where kids skipped classes, teenagers rebelled against curfews, and adults worried about bills, not monsters. It felt like a cruel fairytale now, a life of freedom that she had never tasted, just out of reach.
She wondered how she would have lived her life, if the apocalypse didn’t happen.
It had always been like a fairytale to her. Her favourite part of the story was the rollercoaster ride. According to mom, having a kiss on the ride was the most magical feeling in the world.
Her life had been different from the life her mother had talked about. She had been subjected to scrutiny and harsh treatment as she came from the lowest section.
She didn’t even have the choice to live the kind of life she wanted, there was no playground, no magical place for love. Naughtiness is like shooting yourself in the foot, as it would be a good reason for the system to send you out into the monster’s domain.
"We would divide ourselves into two groups like I had said earlier. We walk around the area, so we won’t be missing any survivors, and to cover more area." Alexa said, her hand tightened around the hilt of her sword.
"Olivia, Abigail, Tyler, Marko, Ellie, Liam, Crystal, and Lucian follow me. While the rest of you go with Klaus." Alexa’s eyes lingered on Olivia before shifting to the rest of the other students.
"Klaus, take good care of them." She said, but Klaus seems to look annoyed by how she had divided the group. He had wanted Olivia to be on his side, and why does Lucian have to be in the same group as her?
