Chapter 20: Get intimate? No!
"Since Grace is Helena’s best friend, I thought I should call her that. Am I wrong? If so, then I wouldn’t do that," Vernon cleared his throat trying to repair the mess he had just made.
It’s been ten years and he had completely forgotten the timeline in his past life. He was used to addressing Grace as his sister-in-law for ten years. So, it became a habit and he casually addressed her the same.
Now that the topic had come in front of him, he slowly recalled what had happened in the last life.
After Helena’s mother’s death, somehow her father and Grace’s mother became friends. After a while, they decided to marry each other.
Since Grace was Helena’s best friend, she had known Grace’s mother for a long time. So, she did not reject their union.
Instead she happily agreed to being Grace’s sister.
Now that he thought about it, Vernon couldn’t even remember what Grace’s last name was. For ten whole years, he heard her being mentioned as Grace Jefferey and he had forgotten about her past life experiences altogether.
It is not like he was interested in knowing about Grace’s life. So, he did not care much about her except for the few times they had family reunions and gatherings.
His words convinced everyone as they nodded casually without thinking too much.
But Helena frowned as she thought, [What is this man thinking about? There is no way he would casually make new relationships with others. He is clearly using an excuse but I can’t understand what is going on with him at all.]
Vernon coughed and cleared his throat to cover up his embarrassment. After all, Helena was right about him. He was never the type of person to casually add new relationships with others.
