My Cold-Hearted Husband Wants Me Back

Chapter 12: She Needs To Survive

Naomi's interest piqued as she leaned forward, her eyes glinting with curiosity. "And?"

Lunara hesitated, her fingers curling into the fabric of her pants as she stared at the mattress, conflicted. "What?" she finally muttered, her tone bitter. "What do you expect? A fateful reunion? Nah... he didn't even remember me."

Naomi's mouth parted in shock, gasping without any sound. Pure disbelief painted her face. "Woah, what a jerk. Get you to sign the deal, give you money, and then disappear?" She frowned, confused. "I really don't get it... why?"

Lunara blinked, furrowing her brows. "What do you mean by 'why'?"

Naomi shrugged, a bit frustrated as she tried to explain. "I mean, he's rich and all, and from what I saw, you were the one who'd benefit from marrying him." She paused, watching Lunara's expression change as she seemed to miss her point. "Okay, I know the money was taken by your dad, but still...you know...you got a lot from just getting married to him..." Naomi trailed off when Lunara looked at her, silently urging her to continue. "I don't know... but it's clear he was involved with you for some reason."

Lunara nodded lightly, a slight pout forming on her lips as she admitted, "Continue..."

Naomi leaned forward, narrowing her eyes thoughtfully. "If he got nothing from this marriage, then why would he get married to you in the first place?"

"He wanted something from this marriage. He did tell me before we signed the marriage certificate." Lunara bit her lips, a bit irritated.

"But why did he leave you with no news or whatsoever?"

Lunara's pout getting longer, her fingers tracing absent patterns on the fabric. "I don't know. He said it was all part of some family matter, but I didn't expect him to just... disappear." She clenched her fists, frustration bubbling up again. "It felt like I was nothing more than a pawn, like once his part in the deal was done, I wasn't worth his time anymore."

Naomi crossed her arms, her expression softening as she tried to understand. "But you were his wife, Lunara. Even if it was a business arrangement, he should've at least respected that. He didn't even try to stay in touch?"
