Chapter 194: JUST STOP CRYING OVER HIM, ALRIGHT?
"No, Lisa. It is not like that." Dove murmured. She did not agree with Lisa saying that about Dante. Though, one part of her mind, that was dangerously desperate wanted to believe, but her rational self did not want to believe.
Why? Maybe because of the bubbling feelings for him in her heart? Or because of how he had always been there for her and Gavi.
Moreover, for once, she could not clearly come up with any instance, when he had behaved unethically with her. He was always like a good friend standing beside her.
’It was me. I was charmed by him.’ She thought to herself.
But that was not how Lisa thought. She thought that, it was all Dante’s fault, for however Dove feels about him. Why would it be not? All this years, Dove had even even felt a slightest adoration for any man romantically. So how come, if she all of a sudden did, if he had not given her any hints?!
Moreover, Lisa had only judged Dove and Dante’s relationship based on how they interacted with her today in front of her, and she drew her conclusion through it.
In a way, both had differing opinion, and no one was being convinced otherwise. And as her friend’s emotions were not stable Lisa did not say anything and only patted her back, saying that, it will be all okay. And she would help her. And that she would get over it.
After a while, when Dove actually calmed down, she wiped her eyes. All the makeup that she had worn in the day, and touched up before coming, had already washed off with the tears.
Dove wiped her face with a wet tissue, to get rid of the stiffness of the salt and water. And when she raised her head she found Lisa staring at her with a smile on her face. Blinking her eyes, she asked tilting her head slightly to the side, "What’s wrong?"
Lisa chuckled and said, "Nothing. I was just seeing how beautiful you look even after crying your blood out. That swollen eyes, red nose and cheeks, flushed face. You would be the perfect casting for a damsel’s role." she chuckled again, "Except for the fact that you are not that normally. You know, this face of yours right now is more than enough to melt any man’s heart."
Hearing her say that as usual, Dove laughed too, before she smile turned a little self aware, and helpless. She spoke, "I am sorry, Lisa. You had to see me like that."
And as soon as Lisa heard that, her eyes narrowed and she said in a dangerously low tone, "Dove Sterling, are you really trying to break our friendship by apologising to me for that? You have really got some nerve, isn’t it? Did I take offense when you were puking your guts out during your first trimester, or when you were giving birth, or when you were bleeding your uterus out post partum? And now you have the nerve to say sorry for sheding a few tears? Please!"
Dove could do nothing, but just smile sheepishly. Before she could open her mouth to says something else, Lisa took her hand and said, "Dove, listen to me very carefully now." Hearing her shift in her tone to a serious one, Dove nodded her head, and listened, "Dove, baby, as much as I don’t mind your tears when you feel overwhelmed, please don’t cry on that man again, okay?" Dove stilled for a moment, still listening as Lisa continued, "Dove, he is not worth it. In fact, no man in this world is so much worth for you crying over them like this. Especially for this reason."
Lisa looked at her eyes intently, and Dove found herself nodding. Lisa bobbed her head and said, "Good. You see there is thousands of fishes in the sea. No millions and billions! So wasting those precious pearls of one mere man? How disappointing! There are better man than that Dante Lancaster, I swear!" Dove stared at her eyes, which looked back at her with sincerity. And though her heart pricked a little, she nodded her head in agreement.
"So, you will move on from him, right?" Lisa pressed. At this, Dove stilled for a few seconds more, before she slowly nodded and said, "I will try, Lisa."
Lisa finally sighed in relief. "Good, good. Let me introduce so men to you. You should go on a few dates. It would freshen your mind, and also make your horizons wider about the men in the market."
Dove bit her lips, as her friend spoke about men like they were some commodity in the market. And she couldn’t help but laugh. But her amusement was short lived when she saw Lisa pulling out her phone saying, "Ok, very well. Let me introduce you to some men. There are few I know. And they are good people. You can try going on dates with them. Let me book you a date tomorrow, how is it?"
Dove furrowed her brows, for a second, confused. But then she understood, and put her phone down with panic, "Lisa, wait, stop!" Lisa blinked her eyes, clearly confused looking at her and asked, "Why? Don’t tell me you just told me that you would move on fom him just to pacify me, did you?."
Dove sighed before shaking her head and said, "No, it is nothing like that. But I just think that... isn’t it so fast?" Lisa frowned clearly finding it absurd, before clicking her tongue and said, "Fast? Seriously? Fast for what? For you not getting more time to fall for him? Or for you not crying for him and breaking your own heart even more? Or having him around?!" Dove instantly fell silent on hearing that, as she had nothing more to say.
Lisa snorted before she put her attention back on what she was doing and said, "You remember that top actor, whom you met at an event abroad with me? He had been pestering me since then to give him your contact, and tell if you are willing to trying dating. I have been putting him down telling him that you are not interested. But now I think it is a good time to give it a shot!"
