Did she like him? No? Then what was the reason for that ache in her heart?

Yes? She was scare to say that.

Dove’s eyes shook, as she kept quiet for a moment, before a smile grazed her lips and she chuckled, "What nonsense. Why would I even like him? He is just a very good friend to me."

Lisa stared at her, before she sighed sadly and said, "That was a terrible lie, Dove." Lisa looked pained as she could tell that her friend was hurting. Her eyes gave away. Yes, they hadn’t grown up together since kids, and yes, they may have not talked much about her love life and romantic plans, but Lisa was someone who had stayed beside Dove, for the last four years.

She was beside her when she was vurnerable and struggling during her pregnancy. She was also there when she was going through the labor. She was there to witness the joys of her life and also the sorrows in the last four years. So, how could she not read her face right now, when it clearly reflected what she wasn’t saying out loud.

How can she not see and read the helpless look on the face of this strong woman.

And as she said that, Dove’s eyes stung, as he bit her lips, the corner of her eyes reddening.

And before she could say something else, Lisa pulled her into a hug.

Dove hugged her friend, as she buried her face on the crook of her neck, and the next second, tears flowed freely from her eyes.

She sniffed and sobbed softly. Gavi, who on sensing something wrong, turned around, but was instantly stunned at what he saw. His mommy was holding Aunty Lisa, as her face was buried in her neck. And her shoulders shook. He instantly jumped down the couch as he face marred with worry.

Was his momma crying? Who made her cry?!

Lisa noticed him, and he was about to come rushing towards them, when she gently smiled at him and shook her head, telling him not to. And that it was all okay.

Gavi was reluctant. But he obeyed, and very hesitantly went back on what he was doing, but not before tuning his head back twice.

Dove’s sobs gradually calmed down, her head still buried on her friend’s neck, refusing to raise her head, when she said softly, "I feel so stupid, Lisa."

Lisa caressed her back softly, listening, "It is just a few days. Just a mere few days! How did it come to this? Why am I not able to control my heart Lisa? How has my heart turned so stupid in just a few days? Why can’t I just accept it?" Lisa’s heart too shook in pain, watching her crying like that.

She has never ever witnessed Dove like this. She had never cried like this for any man. Even when she suddenly got pregnant out of nowhere, and did not know the father of the child, she did not show her emotions. She was string. And now seeing this strong woman, finally breaking down for a man, it broke her heart.

And Lisa understood. Dove had never fallen in love before, after all. Though, Dove wouldn’t name it loud, or maybe she herself did not know what to name it. But Lisa could see.

"I feel so stupid, Lisa. What do I do now? I try to make myself feel that this isn’t a big deal. And that it will pass away too. I can’t force him to feel the same way about me, when he really likes someone else. I try so hard to tell myself that I have better things to do. But my heart just does not try to understand! It is so unlike me." Dove mumbled on softly. "I am going crazy. How do I fix it." She covered her face with her hands.

Lisa couldn’t continue watching her like that, and she pulled her hands down, before cupping her face gently. "Darling, it’s not your fault. So please stop blaming yourself, will you? If anything, then it was that," Lisa paused, as she thought about something, and the more she thought of it, the more angrier she became, and then she said, "It is that bastard’s fault!"

Dove raised her wet eyes in confusion, and uttered, "Dante? Why?"

"Why?!" Lisa scoffed, clearly unimpressed. "Is he an idiot? What kind of playboy is he? When he clearly has someone else in his heart, when he clearly loves someone else, why did he give you signs and signals at the first place?!"

On seeing Lisa burst out in anger, Dove hurriedly shook her head, saying, "No, Lisa. He did not give me any kind of signals. It was just me... who over thought it." Dove swallowed the lump on her throat.

Lisa scoffed saying, "Bullshit! You don’t need to cover for him, Dove! Is he a three year old kid? Does he not know what kind of consequences or effect will his actions cause? Him holding you close in the public, patting your cheeks, and being like that as if you were a family of three. Was that big shot of a CEO really so dumb to not realise what kind of image it was creating? And if he really is such a lover boy, having someone so holy in his heart, how dare he come close to another woman? What kind of third kind devotion was that?! From what I see, he isn’t some love stuck man, but a blatant play boy!" Lisa almost spat in disgust and anger.

All the good image she had about Dante completely vanished now from her head. And at this point, all she wanted was to keep her best friend away from that man.
