Mr Bodyguard, Protect Your Heart!

Chapter 177: IF I HAVE TO, I SHALL DO IT AGAIN

Noah looked down, his heart racing, waiting for Dove to say something. It was true that, he did not tell her what was the real reason for him to avoid Dove, but that did not mean that whatever he said was a lie completely.

Growing up, he had indeed faced everything that he hold her, living with the Sterling family. Now, it was completely true that the Sterling family had treated him with nothing but love and affection. And neither that his adopted father, nor Senior Sterling showed that they thought of him as an adopted child just because his mother was married in the family.

But that was not how every other people thought. The extended families, the relatives, their circle people, most of them would some how bring it up, that whatever he had been, it was all because of the surname that he carried. Even when he had topped the classes, and had scored the highest in the school, yet there were people who said that it was only because, he now was a part of the Sterling family that they spent a good amount in his education, that he can really achieve it. Or else, he would not be able to do it.

Noah, who was only a growing young man, in his teens, he used to feel incredibly insulted in his heart, whenever he used to face that. He would be incredibly angry, and time and again, would be ready to speak back. But then, whenever he would think of it, he would stop. Because, somewhere in him he did not feel courageous enough as he still carried the same surname.

And even though, Noah felt a mental exhaustion whenever he used to face it, but yet it was not enough for him to avoid Dove. After all, at that time, he was equally close to Dove, like she was to him. He knew that she needed him, and he did not want anything to affect his bond with Dove, even at the expense of something that was hurting him from inside.

Dove looked at him, many emotions still swirling through her eyes, but among those this time there was a hint of pity too, as she thought what must have the young Noah must have gone though, while she always thought that everything was fine.

And after what felt like an eternity for Noah, he finally heard Dove’s low voice, "And why did you never say this to Dad?" He would have surely helped you. Dove wanted to say that too, but for some reason she said nothing more. And on hearing that, a small smile appeared on Noah’s face, and he simply shook his head. "Maybe, I could. But even though I was young, I had a self respect that kept me from telling anyone and involving them. And now that I think of it, I feel that I did the right thing. If I have to do it again, I will do the same thing."

Dove after saying that, stared straight into his eyes, before she sighed and then turned around saying, "We are getting late to go home. And my son is already very tired. You must go home too, Noah." And she walked to where her car was. And Noah just stood there, without saying anything this time, and simply stared at Dove’s back.
