Chapter 61: WHAT IS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH DOVE?
"No need to leave, Calix. Whatever I am going to say is, I am sure you know about it just the same as what Dante himself knows."
Hearing Senior Sterling say that, both the men went quiet for a moment before Calix sat back down. They too suddenly had a change of demeanor, as it turned into more serious.
Senior Sterling kept his unyielding gaze on them both specially, Dante, and he said, "It is about, Dove. And her son." And he went quiet again.
Hearing him, now Dante’s heartbeat caught pace, and his face paled slightly, while looking at Senior Sterling, waiting for him to speak. Meanwhile, Senior Sterling observed Dante for a while, before he leaned forward. And he said, "You both must have known my granddaughter Dove, which I know you do very well. So, let me get straight to the point."
Dante did not know why but right know his heart was beating so fast as if it would jump out of the ribcage. Growing up, and receiving power, Dante had eventually stopped fearing anyone. He would just be himself, with a ’will see’ attitude. But right now, maybe he could relate how an innocent rabbit would feel in front of a tiger.
"Y- Yes? Grandpa? W- what do you mean?" Dante stammered unknowingly. To which, senior Sterling nodded and asked, "Dante, tell me, what is your relationship with Dove?"
"..."
"..." Both Dantre and Calix, froze. processing what Senior Sterling said. But still not knowing how to react. Because no, he did not imagine Senior Sterling asking them such question. But Senior Sterling was not done. He said more, "And Dante, don’t try to hide anything from me. Because I know that you can tell that lying to me would be a waste. What kind of relationship do you share with Dove?" Senior Sterling took a break, looking at Dante as he gulped the nervousness that was tied in his throat.
"Her son, is he..." Senior Sterling spoke this very carefully while raising this topic gently, "yours?"
