Chapter 47: RELATIONS TURNING COLD
Freya would look after her needs, and everything, but it was more like doing a job. She would never actually do it all with her own heart, like how she did it for her son. Freya was actually a single mom, who had raised her son on her own. She did not belong to a wealthy family with influential background. Her father had married her because, growing up Dove needed a female figure in the house. Moreover, she was good an creating an image in front of people.
She had not really shown unkindness towards Dove in her face, but Dove had just realised it on her own. When one day, she had over heard Freya complaining to her friend about how Dove was being a spoiled brat of the rich family. And how she was only brought in here to look after her. She also complained to her friend that Senior Sterling and Mr Sterling did not own Noah like how they treated Dove.
Dove who was just a new teenager at that time. She was just thirteen years old, frowned hearing that. She did not remember being a brat to her step mother. But she was definitely very hurt by it, and it had hit her self respect. Though, she could also not deny the fact that, the an individual do favour their own blood more than any one else. Just like how, Dove knew that her grandfather and father would always treat her better than Noah. Not because they don’t like him. But it would be more subconsciously then knowingly.
People are always more inclined towards their own blood and that is the fact of the world.
But from then on, Dove had that sore point for Mrs Freya. She would from then on start avoiding her to let her do any of her work, and would try to get everything done on her own which required Freya’s assistance. And slowly Freya too understood Dove’s cold side towards her. And thus started a cold relationship between the two. Which with time, the both did not even bother to hide it anymore too.
This relationship between them could have been simply avoided between them, only with a little open mindness, sincere approachment and conversation. But none of them did it. Maybe, both of them were at fault, but Freya being the adult, she should be the more mature one and should have taken the initiative to clear any hard feelings between them. BBUt no one did. Hence, the situation.
Dove curved her lips down as she remembered those things, that she generally did not want to think about. But then, she also remembered about Noah. Though, she had come to know about Freya, and her relationship with her started to sour only after a year of them staying here, but Noah, he was different.
Noah had been the sweet big brother that Dove could have ever asked for. Soon after they moved in the mansion with them, Dove and Noah got along quickly. She was happily to have a big brother. He would also help her always with every little thing that would happen to her, and that she needed help with. Noah knew about her hard feelings about his mother. He would coax her and tell her not to feel low. He would tell her that his mother was not a bad woman. People are just self centred. And his mother was a little bit more.
And Dove understood that.
