I stood there, my back pressed against the cold, tiled wall of the shower stall, trembling under Kathrine’s intense gaze.
Her body was so close to mine that I could feel her breath against my skin.
My thoughts were spinning out of control when I suddenly heard Alex’s voice echoing through the shower room.
"Glyndon? Hey, are you still in there? Are you okay?" His voice grew closer, each step making my heart pound harder.
I couldn’t breathe.
If Alex found me here with Kathrine, like this, everything would be ruined. He’d tell everyone.
I glanced at Kathrine, panic flaring in my chest. She didn’t move, her eyes locked on mine, as if daring me to stop her.
My hands shook as I made the only decision I could: I pushed myself off the wall, away from her, and stepped toward the curtain.
My hands clenched the edge of the fabric, pulling it tightly closed, shielding Kathrine behind me as if I could hide her with my midget-ass figure... What a joke.
"Alex," I called out, trying to steady my voice, but it cracked anyway. "I’m fine. Just... give me a second, okay?"
