"Just calm down, Alex. Jesus Christ, why are you so angry?" I called after him, my footsteps quick as I tried to catch up.
I grabbed his hand, holding onto it firmly in an attempt to slow him down.
Silas, his friend, followed closely behind, trying to diffuse the situation. "Chill out, man. It's not that serious."
Alex yanked his hand free from mine, his face red with fury. "Not that serious? She humiliated me in front of everyone. Me! Alex King! I got mocked by that trash from the mud."
His voice boomed in the hallway, drawing even more attention from the lingering students.
I blinked, taken aback by the rage pouring out of him.
He looked ready to punch the first person who dared to say a word. I'd never seen him this angry before.
Was what she said so bad? Or was he... insecure? That thought lingered uncomfortably in my mind.
"Alex, please," I said softly, reaching for his arm again. "This is exactly what she wants. She just wants to get under your skin."
He glared at me, his jaw clenched so tightly I could see the tension in his neck.
