Chapter 225: Thank you for the heads up
"Uh, Fil." Anton instinctively held Fil’s arm the second she stepped on the stairs to stop her. Fil looked back at him, curious.
"How about we grab something to eat first?" he said with an awkward laugh. "You said had to visit a few sites today. That’s why you were late. Are you sure partying is what you want to do right now? I mean, do you want to grab a coffee instead and catch up? Not just the two of us, but the three of us. I think it’s a good time to get to know Elise too."
Fil and Elise looked at each other before they both set their eyes back on him.
"Anton, is there’s something wrong?" Fil asked worriedly.
Anton forced a smile, holding himself back from telling her it wasn’t like there was something wrong... yet. However, once she goes to the second floor and sees what kind of party is happening, Anton can already see what is going to happen.
When Anton left the second floor, nothing huge was happening. At least his "friends" were not doing anything yet. But this was Michael’s party! Every second, things were developing fast. And by that, he meant Marianne and Vincent might let loose and get back together just for the heck of it.
’I know they’ve already broken up, but... if she sees that her best friend and ex-fiance together...’ Anton secretly clenched his teeth. ’She’ll still get hurt.’
A sense of guilt crept into Anton’s heart at the thought of knowing the truth and hiding it from Fil.
"Anton, this party is something Michael threw for me for my return and to celebrate our little friendship," Fil explained innocently. "I can’t just ditch him. I want to show my face to him first."
"Then, should we call him?"
She narrowed her eyes and asked suspiciously. "Anton, is there something you don’t want me to see on the second floor?"
