Chapter 148: That’s easy
Meanwhile...
Marcus swirled a whiskey in his hand, sitting on the couch quietly, deep in thought. Fil didn’t react much to his confession, which he expected. After all, she just got out of a long relationship, and having to face many emotions was probably overwhelming.
"Vincent," he whispered, shifting his eyes to the open small box containing the cufflink in front of him. "I can’t let him have her back."
A glint flickered across his eyes, thinking of the ploy Vincent tried to pull off the last time. Although Marcus was proud that Fil saw through it and called it out, it was still not enough. Marcus knew his friend and what he was capable of.
Vincent could be dumb, but was also scheming.
Marcus chugged down the whiskey in one go, hissing as he placed the glass on the low table. He then picked up one of the cufflinks in the box before he leaned back against the couch. He stared at it, deep in thought.
’I need time to make sure no matter what he would do, she won’t feel sorry for him anymore,’he told himself, eyes gleaming in contempt. ’Which route should I go? Should I make her accept him again temporarily and buy myself some time?’
There were quite a few ways Marcus had already come up with to get rid of Vincent in Fil’s life. After all, ever since that time Fil rushed to the hospital because Vincent was ’hurt,’ it never left his mind. However, he was aware those ways weren’t so effective. Hence, he needed more time.
"Marianne," he murmured, analyzing Marianne and Vincent’s relationship. If his observation and theory were correct, then that woman could be a good ally for now — not in the long run, though. If Marianne was obsessed with Fil, then having her around was akin to carrying a ticking time bomb.
