Chapter 63: Are we going too fast?
"Sparkling," Fil whispered, barely catching her breath as her voice left her throat before she knew it. "It’s sparkling."
Was she still dreaming?
Fil rubbed her eyes, assuming it would fix the problem. When she looked around her apartment, her jaw nearly hit the floor. Her place was sparkling clean. The walls were lighter as if it was newly painted. There was not a single dust or fingerprint on the windows, and the floor was shining — she could even see her reflection!
Fil was organized at home; she liked it when everything was in place. It was the main reason she had to stay up longer the other night after work just to clean and find a place for the rack of clothes Dustin sent to her place. However, she was not a clean freak, nor did she have the energy to keep her place spotless.
"What... happened here?" she wondered with a gaping mouth. "It’s impossible that he did it, right?"
Fil looked back at the bedroom. Jackson was nowhere in sight. She woke up without him, assuming he had already left early in the morning.
"Or am I seeing things?" she murmured, shaking her head. "Maybe it just looks clean because the curtains were open."
Convinced, Fil resumed her steps to the kitchen to get herself a coffee. She went by her usual morning routine, making a well-deserved coffee on the weekend. But as she did so, she couldn’t help but take the frying pan from its drawer after catching a glimpse of it.
"Huh?" she scrunched up her nose, seeing her reflection on the bottom of the pan. "Did he buy a new one?"
How baffling.
Last night, her place wasn’t a mess, but it wasn’t as spotless either. But now, even the burnt bottom part of the frying pan was gone.
