Chapter 474: Growing family (1)
"Congratulations. You are expecting a child," the doctor confirmed. He let the news sink in for the young couple as he looked into his bag for medicine that would help her during this time.
Annalise stared at the doctor. She knew that this announcement was coming and what the answer would be to the question they asked, but it still felt like cold water had been thrown at her. It was now confirmed that they were going to be having a child. That inside of her there was life growing.
Seeing that Annalise had turned mute, Rafael decided to be the one to ask the questions they needed to ask. "How far along is she?" He asked, placing his hand on Annalise’s shoulder. He wanted to pick her up but she was seated on the chair so he had to settle for this.
"It’s hard to give a prediction with how far along when she is not showing yet, but I would say around a month based on what she said about the last time she bled. If you are around town for the next few weeks, I can keep watch and tell you a better prediction. I can tell better when her belly starts to grow bigger," the doctor, Jude Weiss answered.
"We won’t be in town for long. Is there anything she needs to be prepared for at this time?" Rafael asked.
"Oh yes. There will be some vomiting in the morning. You need to keep the foods that make her sick away from her to limit the vomiting. I suggest having buckets nearby and though it will be hard, you need to eat even when you feel like you would vomit. You are now taking care of someone else."
"There are some medicines I recommend she takes at this time to help keep her and the baby healthy. You’ll need to be more careful during this time. The slightest fall could lead to losing the baby," Jude explained.
"During this time, you should try not to stress her. I will write a list of everything that will happen during this time and what you will need to look out for. I will also write what medicine she needs to take at this time. Follow the list carefully and you will be fine," Jude said, pulling out a paper to get started with writing.
"Thank you," Rafael thanked the doctor. He repeated everything said inside his head so he wouldn’t forget it even though there would be a list.
