Chapter 153: [Bonus - ] Death wish (2)
"There have been requests for you to join us at the border, but we have yet to hear a response from you and many of the other knights. Do you not want this war to be over with?" Asked Claude, one of the three guards who came to visit Rafael.
"Am I to always finish the fights I am assigned to and then clean up what you fail to do? My knights need to rest. The guards at the border have enough resources and men to deal with what the king has tasked you to do," Rafael answered.
The answer would always be no to having his knights pack up to head back to the border after the long journey they just returned from. They also had other battles to take care of for the kingdom and Rafael was not going to overwork his men. There were plenty of other people the border could call upon for help.
"I always get the feeling that you and everyone else look down on us since the war at the border is not yet over. Keep in mind that it has been going on for over a hundred years. We are trying to continue what others failed to do for years. If all the knights and the king’s army come together to help fight those people, it would be over with, but you continue to be against aiding us," said Ethan, another one of the border guards.
Rafael rested his head on his knuckle as he propped himself up with his hand. "Did the three of you come to my manor to pick a fight with me? It is not my fault that you are so incompetent to come up with ways to have the advantage in your fight. I know that you have been sending men with little to no training to fight. And you wonder why you have been losing."
"Those are men who volunteered to help protect their mother and sisters-"
"You need to fucking train them before you send them out to fight experienced warriors," Rafael snapped, tired of them pretending their methods made sense.
A knock at the door disrupted the conversation.
"Come in," Rafael said out loud for Annalise to hear. He needed the arrival to keep him calm. His blood would always boil with anger whenever the border guards were near.
