Chapter 150: Doubt (3)
Rafael couldn’t disagree with her as the compliment in the midst of their conversation did distract him and now her foot was free. It wasn’t the best idea to fight against the woman he was trying to deny having feelings for since the smallest little thing distracted him. He did what he scolded his knights for doing when women walked by.
She was much better at this than he imagined. There were many questions he needed answered about her father and where he learned to fight.
"What is the name of your father?" Rafael asked, blocking another one of her attacks she thought she could get in while he was lost in his thoughts.
’And now the fun must end,’ Annalise thought.
She loosened her grip on the sword and as she tried to strike him again, she let it fly out of her hands.
"It seems I have lost," Annalise said, stepping back so she could not be hit by the second blow he was ready to send. "I am no match for you."
Rafael slowly lowered his hand. He would have to be a fool to think he had easily knocked the sword out of her hands. She could have put up more of a fight. This small fight was far from over and the little smile she wore told him that she knew it too. He did not understand why she had ended the fight so soon and pretended to lose.
Annalise looked away from Rafael to where she heard twigs and leaves being stepped on. The fight ended right on time for them to avoid letting someone spy on her and Rafael having a match against each other. Had he not started to question her father, she would have let it go on a bit longer. Perhaps knock him on his ass for holding her foot so long.
There was still a lot about Rafael that she needed to study to be able to fight against him for real one day. He fought her differently as he would with the knights and she knew it had to be due to him not expecting her to know how to fight and her being a woman. She watched him fight against the knights enough times to see how much more force he used with his strikes.
