Chapter 84: Recovery
Elijah’s pov ;
I thought I might find something useful from Samantha and her mother, but instead, they only made me angrier. Their cruel and vicious nature was on full display, and it was hard to imagine how Ash had survived living with them.
They said Ash in a coma for two years, which meant his suffering didn’t start just now—it had been going on since the accident.
My mind raced with questions. What exactly happened that night? Was he really just drunk and speeding? Was he reckless enough to kill two innocent people, or was there more to the story that hadn’t been discovered yet? The uncertainty gnawed at me.
I wanted to ask him about that night, but I was stuck in a dilemma. If I brought it up, Ash would question how I knew about the accident. And then there was the issue of the couple he supposedly killed—my parents. How could I ask him about it without holding him accountable for their deaths? It felt like an impossible situation.
But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that the truth needed to come out. Ash’s suffering couldn’t be in vain, and the pieces of the puzzle had to be put together. I needed to know if there was another reason behind the accident, something that could explain everything.
Feeling a mix of anger, frustration, and determination, I left Samantha and her mother behind and made my way back to the hospital.
As I approached the hospital, my heart raced with nervous energy. It had been a long night filled with worry and fear for Ash’s well-being. But now, standing by his bedside, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of peace wash over me. Despite the chaos in my mind, he looked so peaceful in his sleep.
I reached out and gently brushed a stray lock of hair from his forehead, revealing his closed eyes and serene expression. Leaning over, I pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. He stirred, his eyelids fluttering open to reveal those beautiful brown eyes that always seemed to light up my world.
