Chapter 26: Daywalker
Zane and Lucy looked at him. They saw his hand under the sun, and nothing was happening. They both froze for a moment before Zane rushed over to him and grabbed his hand, looking at it, but there was no damage at all.
"How... how is that possible?" Zane muttered. He immediately pulled off his ring and pushed his hand under the sun.
Burn.
Immediately, it felt like fire on paper. The place where the sunlight touched burned; the pain was crazy. Zane gritted his teeth and pulled his hand back immediately. He looked at the burn, which was already healing up, and then he looked at Grey.
"This is what is supposed to happen," he said, showing the burn to Grey. Then, a few seconds later, the burn healed up completely.
Lucy walked close; she grabbed Grey’s hand. "How did it feel when you put your hand under?" she asked.
"Uhm, I just felt irritated by the sun, but nothing more. It didn’t hurt or have any other effect," Grey replied.
"I see," Lucy muttered.
"Do you know something, Lucy?" Zane asked.
"Yes. It seems I was wrong when I said Grey is a normal vampire. It seems he is, in fact, a very rare and unique type of vampire," Lucy said.
Hearing that, Zane became eager to know what it was. He looked at Lucy, waiting for her to spill, and he wasn’t alone, as Grey also watched with eager eyes, trying to find out what exactly he was.
"Grey is a Daywalker. A special breed of vampires capable of defying the greatest enemy of vampires—the sun.
