Chapter 160: Denied Meeting
Rory walked to the coffee shop in front of the building and sat hiding behind a pillar. She did not want to be spotted by the reporters and at the same time, she didn’t want to miss the arrival of the lawyer.
Laura Brown’s mother was answering the questions of the reporters. There was a elderly man beside her to support her. It was her brother, Laura Brown’s uncle. She lost her husband and Laura was all she had. And after her passing, her mother is devastated.
Rory didn’t want to look at that anymore. She thought that Mrs. Brown is making a mockery out of her daughter’s death. She could silently grieve for her daughter than try to ruin the life of an innocent man... If she is really grieving, why is she putting herself in front of the reporters? Does she want her 15 minutes of fame?
Rory bit her tongue to stop herself from thinking further. No matter what, she cannot judge someone for what they are doing.
Rory remembered Derick saying that Allison’s relatives have connections and she wondered if they might be responsible for the struggle Liam is going through.
Or it could really be... Ahh!
She wanted to scream. It is still hard for her to accept that the one Liam trusted so much is the one who put him in prison for something he didn’t do. She believes that Jake and Lennon are working together.
Jake is the serial killer and Lennon is trying to protect Jake and throw Liam under the bus. But why? She kind of had an idea, but she didn’t want to arrive at a conclusion regarding this without definite proof.
Liam would be so hurt!
As she was in deep thought, she noticed someone staring at her. Someone who was standing in line to get coffee was taking glances at her and she was sure that he took a picture in his phone.
Rory figured out that he might be a journalist. She knew it was not very smart to hide in a coffee shop just opposite to the police precinct. She stood up and carrying her purse dashed out of the coffee shop.
She saw the reporter following her and he was calling others to inform them of her position. She looked across the road and saw a couple of people dashing at her with their cameras and recording devices.
