And that was not all. She was in immense pain and suffering already and she learned of another thing.
His secret obsession!
Just until a year ago, she knew that her husband had condemnably sinful intentions towards a woman. And she could do nothing about it. She was terrified of talking about it to Rory.
Also, she didn’t know why, but she despised Rory. Every time he mentioned Rory to her, she’d always be in pain, and she associated Rory’s name with pain and suffering. She was in so much pain physically and emotionally, that she thought that if her husband takes Rory, she might be free.
And she waited for the day her husband lets her go and got together with Rory. She wanted to be free of pain.
She waited for a chance to get away.
It was then that the dreaded day came. She could see the change in his attitude lately. He was more and more brazen. She feared meeting his eyes and his attitude at home became more belligerent.
She saw him walking inside the house wearing a blue shirt not belonging to him. He was soaked in blood. She was terrified by how casual he was. He walked to the kitchen, poured himself a bottle of whiskey and savored it.
He looked pleased.
That night he came to her. She was terrified of all the pain she will have to go through. But she remembered that night. She was sitting on the bed hugging the pillow. She knew not to shout in case she woke up Skyla. She didn’t want her daughter to get scared. Her daughter still thinks that her father is the best father in the whole world.
