Chapter 28: Watching Over
"Tell him that I’ll talk to him later in the day," Liam waved his hand to dismiss Jake. He sat leaning on the seat and crossed his legs.
"Which one?" Jake asked. He needed specific instructions.
"The Estate Planner..." Liam said rubbing his forehead. He was staring at the sole of his shoe and his mouth was slightly parted as if he had more to say.
So Jake waited.
"...Inform Sterling to proceed with the divorce," Liam said after a minute-long silence. His foot was not shaking anymore. His knuckles holding the armrest were white. His face was red.
It was obviously a difficult decision for Liam.
Jake was surprised. This was the first time Liam’s divorce lawyer contacted him. He didn’t even know of Liam’s marital status. But apparently, he had filed for divorce and it was left as it is without making any further progress.
After seeing how he acted with Aurora Roberts the entire day, he thought that Liam has changed his decision to proceed with the divorce. And hence the call from the divorce lawyer.
It is obvious Liam still cares so very much for Aurora Roberts.
But if he wants to proceed with the divorce...
A thought popped into Jake’s mind. He wondered if Liam’s decision has got to do with what they saw in the news some hours earlier.
"With all due respect, Liam... Maybe staying married can give you spousal privilege in case-"
