Chapter 27: Complicated Feelings
The moment those words came out of her mouth, Rory regretted speaking her mind. Yeah, she wants to hug him, kiss him and do more at the moment.
I mean, LOOK AT HIM! Who wouldn’t want to sleep with him? I do!
Rory met his eyes to see his reaction. His mouth opened out of shock but then he rubbed his mouth with the back of his hand. When he removed his hand, his face was blank. His eyes were drooped and his lips were pressed to a line.
He is not happy!
Rory let out a deep breath. "Just kidding," she chuckled. The corners of her lips hurt as she forced the smile. She cleared her throat and continued. "I don’t feel like using the bed. I have a baby monitor. I’ll be..." she pointed at the door. "...out!"
She felt a squeezing pain in her heart. She did not blame him. She blamed herself. From the moment she met him back, he made it clear that he has no interest in her. He just wants to be a father to Ellie.
We are divorced for f*ck’s sake! And he has a girlfriend!
It was presumptuous of her to suggest something absurd just because she wanted it, especially when he is in a relationship with another woman. She was surprised he is not mocking her. She decided to leave before he mocks her.
Ah! Shameful! I will hide.
Rory darted towards the door before she gets roasted by him. Just as she got to the door she felt a pull by her waist. Liam’s strong arm wrapped around her waist and her back slammed on his chest.
Rory’s heart started to beat fast as his breath fell on her ear. She reached for the knob of the door but his big hand got the knob first.
"Stay, Cherry," he whispered in her ear and she felt butterflies in her stomach.
