Chapter 279: Trust Rewarded
Xing and the Emperor reached the Hailu Town before the end of the day without even stopping for water in the way. The entire town was buzzing with activities of the Zhong army in their streets and a curfew was enacted to ensure the safety of the Emperor and the Empress arriving there.
Xing walked straight through passing through the security into the Inn where they were keeping the body of ’Seiren’. The Emperor tried to stop her, Bai Li tried to stop her but she didn’t listen.
"Your Highness! Please consider....", the guard by the foot tried to stop her but she walked in larger strides into the room...
"You bitch! With what face are you here?", Huojin who was weeping sitting beside the body lunged towards her and she moved aside and at the same time, put a shield around the room to not let the noises from leaking out.
As much as Xing does not like Huojin, he has recently lost his father and his child, his mother is sick and now he thinks his brother is dead... He is allowed to lose his mind at her and call her names and not get punished for it.
Xing looked at the body on the bed almost starting to decay with deep cuts in the face making it unrecognisable. The complexion of the skin and the height and even the body type did resemble Seiren’s. He had the palest, milky white skin Xing had ever seen that is almost like her skin.
She tried to undress the corpse when Huojin who was held back by the Emperor got out from his hold and tried to stab Xing with his sword but was stopped by Bai Li.
"Can’t you let him rest even after this, bitch?", Huojin was screaming at her.
Xing didn’t even listen to him and checked the lower back of the corpse holding her breath fearing if she might be disappointed but after looking, a smile crept up her lips.
"There is no crescent moon birthmark on his lower back! This is not Seiren!", she said as she breathed out.
Thank goodness! Thank goodness!
"Why must you be this rude to us? Or are you just crazy? We found the token of our family with him. And... My brother has no birthmark on his back! Do you think you know better about him than me, his brother?", Huojin screamed at the top of his lungs trying to at least slap her and even the Emperor and Bai Li found her smug face a bit rude. No one can deny the fact that there is a dead person in the room, afterall!
