Chapter 309: THE BL FAN
’GUIDE TO YOUR HEART.’
A BL novel?
Ong Yool knitted his eyebrows, wondering where the BL book had come from.
Actually, books with ’s’ because there are three volumes in my bag.
He was a fan of fiction books.
The genre didn’t matter— as long as the story was interesting, he’d read it. So, he didn’t mind a BL book either.
There was only one problem.
I don’t remember buying this particular book.
When Ong Yool got home, he immediately searched the title of the BL book on the internet since he was going to check his PPT project anyway.
But his computer suddenly broke down.
For real?
He tried searching on his phone, then.
Ah, I found it.
’Guide to Your Heart’ was posted on a platform that wasn’t familiar to him, and all the Chapters were locked.
He was trying to save up that month, so he didn’t read the NovelPhoenix.
Plus, I have the physical copies anyway.
Since Ong Yool’s computer was down anyway, he decided to just laze around instead of worrying about his project.
The deadline is next week anyway.
Hence, he went to bed and read the first volume of the BL book.
It was a post-apocalyptic world where Hunters and Guides were considered the ’superheroes.’
The book also featured dungeons and monsters, so it was pretty exciting.
So, the main character is Ahn Kisoo. A Guide? Why are Guides important again?
After reading a few more Chapters...
Oh, so a Guide is the one who can help a Hunter who lost their mind from using their power too much. Got it.
And the ML of the book was Han Graham.
He’s one of the strongest Hunters in the book, one of the Big 4.
In short, Han Graham wasn’t the strongest Hunter in the story even though he was the main lead.
Woah, that was pretty interesting.
Usually, in stories like this, the ML is the strongest.
And the most interesting.
Well, Han Graham was a fun character.
But Lee Seodam, the new member of the Big 4 who replaced the strongest, caught Ong Yool’s attention more.
To be exact, Lee Seodam’s back story.
This bastard left his girlfriend to be with his Guide because he wanted to be stronger.
And, in that world, a Hunter could get stronger with their Guide if they developed a sexual relationship with them.
Yes, it was icky.
But the story was set after an apocalypse, so the survivors would do anything to adapt.
That’s why a sexual relationship between a Hunter and a Guide has been treated as normal in that world.
And, to be fair, Ong Yool was quite glad that Lee Seodam was honest with his girlfried.
It was better than cheating on her with his Guide.
However...
I feel bad for Chu Wonhee.
That was the name of Lee Seodam’s ex-girlfriend in the story.
Chu Wonhee is a famous actress. But what Lee Seodam doesn’t know is that Chu Wonhee is actually the beloved younger sister of two of the Hunters that belong to the Big 4.
"Stupid," Ong Yool said while shaking his head. "You fumbled big time, Lee Seodam."
At that point, he had already skipped the main story.
He just didn’t care about Ahn Kisoo and Han Graham.
And, for some reason, I feel irritated by the two.
Hence, Ong Yool focused on Lee Seodam, Chu Wonhee, and Park Ruda.
Oh, Park Ruda is Lee Seodam’s Guide— the one he chose over Chu Wonhee.
"Wonhee-ya, no," Ong Yool whispered to himself when he reached the next volume of the story. He was already at the part where Chu Wonhee was starting to become a villainess because of Lee Seodam and Park Ruda. "Lee Seodam isn’t worth it. Just let your ex be with Park Ruda. You’ll find someone else, I promise. Someone better— someone more handsome and more powerful, like the missin #1 Hunter..."
Wait.
Ong Yool knitted his eyebrows, confused by his own thoughts.
It was only briefly mentioned in the story that Lee Seodam was able to join the Big 4 because the #1 Hunter was missing.
So, how did I end up thinking that the #1 Hunter suits Chu Wonhee better?
It was weird since Chu Wonhee and the #1 Hunter weren’t even mentioned in the same sentence once.
Ong Yool gasped when the realization hit him.
I know— this is how fanfiction starts.
He just hated the idea of his favorite character— Chu Wonhee— getting back together with Lee Seodam that he created a new ship for her.
I don’t know who the #1 Hunter is, but I know he’s better than Lee Seodam.
With a newfound hope in his heart, Ong Yool continued reading the book.
He was hoping that the #1 Hunter would be mentioned again.
However, the story suddenly turned a bit dark.
Chu Wonhee died?!
Oh, god.
Ong Yool had to close the book and take a deep breath.
He didn’t know why, but Chu Wonhee’s death affected him so much that he felt his heart breaking.
I feel like I lost a friend.
It was as if Chu Wonhee was a real person and not a mere character.
Hence, he couldn’t accept her death.
This can’t be. Chu Wonhee is the beloved younger sister of Yeon Soobin and Jang Semi— two of the Big 4. They won’t let their baby sister, right?
Still being optimistic, Ong Yool opened the book again and continued reading.
The tone of the story remained dark.
But...
"Go, Yeon Soobin," Ong Yool said, encouraging the character. "Be a villain and avenge Chu Wonhee’s death!"
That was the last thing he remembered before falling asleep.
And when Ong Yool opened his eyes...
***
WHAT THE HELL?
Ong Yool woke up and opened the curtains, as usual.
However, the scenery that greeted him shocked him.
Why is there a dungeon in front of my apartment?!
And the dungeon in question was swarmed with monsters!
