Chapter 27: Dinner
Sloan
I don’t usually do this, but after news of my almost poisoning incident spread across the palace, my father sent for me and requested I have dinner with them. Of course, I refused, till my grandfather sent for me himself. Which is why I’m currently seated around the large dining table, right in front of my father and grandfather, over a large feast.
I don’t want to be here right now, but I don’t like refusing my grandfather.
"Are you hurt? Are you sure you didn’t drink the tea at all?" My grandfather asked from across the table and I gave a tense nod, reaching for my glass of wine to down half the content.
"I didn’t. I’m fine." I breathed out in response.
My father didn’t look happy. He was frowning. One would think he was worried about me, but I knew it was the complete opposite.
"It’s a good thing you weren’t poisoned. I only have one son, what would happen to the throne if you had taken that tea?" He muttered and I rolled my eyes. Of course he was only worried about his damn throne.
I remained silent, and after a few minutes, he continued, his eyes on me as he spoke.
"That reminds me, Sloan, your bride is arriving in four days." He announced and I instantly grew tense and irritated.
"You’ll welcome her once she arrives and you’ll have to spend time with her to get to know her and..."
