Chapter 799 Little Garden
Being in a coma and being in a vegetative state were two very different things, and Hera knew that well. Right now, Leo was in a deep coma—no matter what she did, he wouldn’t respond. All she could do was wait for him to wake up and stay by his side as much as possible.
Hearing Zhane, usually so stoic and stern, trying so hard to comfort her—saying so many things just to lift her spirits and give her hope—touched her deeply.
At this moment, all Hera could do was pray that Leo wouldn’t face any more dangerous setbacks in the next few days. If his condition stabilized and he could be moved out of the ICU, maybe then, she would finally be able to breathe a little easier.
Just then, Hera’s phone began to vibrate. Liz was calling. Hera answered on the second ring, and Zhane gently let her go so she could reach for the bedside table where her waist belt was placed, her phone tucked inside.
Although it was set to vibrate and mute, the vibrations against the magazines in the belt made a surprisingly loud noise in the otherwise silent room, cutting short the tender moment between Hera and Zhane.
"Hello?" Hera’s voice, still slightly hoarse from earlier, came through the line. On the other end, Liz hesitated for a moment, her heart tightening. She remembered Hera was dealing with an emergency—someone close to her might be fighting for their life, that’s why she was crying, she thought—and hearing the rawness in Hera’s voice made Liz worry even more.
Athena and Zen, who were with Liz, instinctively moved closer, silently leaning in to catch what was being said.
"Are you okay?" Liz asked softly.
"I’m fine," Hera replied, her voice gentle but tired. "I’m still at the hospital, though. Thank you, Liz. Really... this favor means a lot to me." A faint, weary smile tugged at her lips as she spoke. On the other end of the line, Liz shook her head instinctively—even though Hera couldn’t see her—her gestures filled with silent sympathy for her friend’s situation.
