Chapter 798 Leo Being In A Vegetative State?
"Zhane, thank you..." Hera murmured, releasing a deep sigh of relief as a sense of calm washed over her. She felt a weight lift off her shoulders, no longer burdened by the need to hide or worry.
Now that her mind had settled, she realized it wasn’t surprising. With Zhane and the others’ sharp intellects, along with the presence of armed veteran soldiers and Cindy by her side, and the obvious injuries Leo and his people had sustained, it wasn’t hard to imagine they’d already started piecing things together. Their suspicions about her identity were likely forming even as they tried to respect her privacy.
Hera herself had even suspected something about Leo’s identity but had chosen to stay quiet. She understood that Leo meant no harm, so if he was keeping secrets from her, she accepted it. And just as she’d respected his silence, she knew Zhane, Luke, Xavier, Dave, and Rafael were also honoring her decision to keep her identity hidden for now.
"Hmmm..." Zhane murmured in response to Hera, feeling the tension in her muscles slowly fade as she allowed herself a moment to relax, letting go of her worries to regain her composure.
Sensing this, he pulled her a little closer, letting her hear the steady beating of his heart. It was strong, rhythmic, and comforting. Hera listened, her eyes closing as she drew comfort from the sound.
After a moment, she asked, her voice soft but laced with concern, "Zhane, what’s Leo’s condition?"
Even though she had managed to calm herself and regain control over her emotions, the mention of Leo’s condition still caused her heart to tremble. The fear and worry she had suppressed bubbled up again.
Noticing the subtle tension in her muscles, Zhane gave her a reassuring pat on the back before gently rubbing it, his chest reverberating with the sound of his steady heartbeat as he spoke.
"He’s still in a coma," Zhane said quietly, his voice steady but heavy. "He suffered head injuries from the explosion, and the blood loss affected both his heart and brain. He came dangerously close to being brain-dead... Fortunately, the doctor with them managed to perform a blood transfusion just in time, giving him a fighting chance."
