Liz slapped her thigh in exasperation upon hearing Hera’s comment about her exaggerating.
She flopped down onto the sofa in her office, her frustration evident.
"What are you talking about? I’m a jewelry designer, and I know this design could win first place in any competition—nationally, even internationally—with just a few tweaks. How is that exaggerating?" Liz nearly shouted into the phone.
Although Liz was a jewelry designer, she wasn’t considered outstanding. While she had won a few domestic and international awards, she was far from being labeled a genius.
She was hardworking with a keen eye for design, which allowed her to create pieces that followed trends.
However, the issue was that she didn’t have her own unique design path.
As both a designer and a businesswoman, she focused on what would sell, which meant most of her work was trend-driven.
While she occasionally created a unique piece or two, the majority of her designs played it safe.
Seeing a design that was truly unique—complex and ingenious, yet with a touch of amateurism only professionals would recognize—made it clear that the person behind the jewelry blueprints likely lacked formal training.
It was probably something they created for fun.
But if such raw talent existed, with a little guidance, their designs could improve dramatically and easily earn recognition in any competition.
