Chapter 384 Bry’s Father, Being Jumpy and Nervous
Zhane could read the excitement radiating from Dave without even needing to guess. With a knowing smile, he ignored Dave’s eager anticipation and guided Hera to her seat. He pulled out the chair with practiced grace, helping Hera sit down like a true gentleman before gently pushing the chair in to ensure she was comfortably positioned at the table.
Once he was certain Hera was seated comfortably, Zhane took his place on her right side and poured her a cup of tea. Bry and the others soon joined them, having finished their tour of the expansive room and the opulent boat docked nearby.
"Sister, look at the boat! It’s incredible, like something a prince and princess would ride!" Bry exclaimed, running eagerly from the side where the boat was docked. His eyes sparkled with childlike wonder. His father followed closely behind, watching over him to ensure he didn’t accidentally bump into anything or cause damage. Despite the recent earnings from their collaboration with the Avery Racecourse, he knew that even with millions in hand, he couldn’t afford to cover the cost of any potential damage to the lavish décor.
He felt that just one piece of the extravagant décor could leave him penniless and in debt for a lifetime. He couldn’t help but gulp nervously as he watched his curious son, who seemed completely carefree, exploring the room with innocent enthusiasm.
Noticing Bry’s father growing increasingly anxious and fidgety, Gerald approached him with a reassuring pat on the shoulder, hoping to ease his nerves. However, the gesture only seemed to intensify Bry’s father’s tension, as if the pat had reminded him of a looming debt he couldn’t escape. His grimace elicited a hearty laugh from Gerald, who found the situation amusing.
He found that he was never bored around his Young Miss, as there was always some drama or amusing people in her orbit. With a chuckle, Gerald decided to put the old man at ease. "Hahaha, Uncle, just relax. Even if something were to happen to any of these decorations, they’re covered by insurance. So, there’s no need to worry."
Instead of feeling reassured, Bry’s father was even more convinced that the decorations must cost hundreds of millions each. After all, why else would they need insurance for mere decor? Even he only had insurance policies for his brother and wife, not for anything as seemingly trivial as room decorations.
Bry’s father choked on his own saliva after hearing Gerald, his heart racing as he felt like he aged ten years in an instant. Seeing his father so distressed, Bry immediately stood by his side and stopped exploring the room. His father quickly guided him to a seat at the table, and only after they were properly settled did he let out a deep sigh of relief, as if he had narrowly escaped a pursuing demon.
Gerald soon joined the group at the table, but this time he had learned his lesson. Instead of sitting opposite Hera and the others, he allowed the manager to take that spot. Gerald positioned himself slightly to the side, ensuring that he would remain safe if anything went awry or flew off the table. He chuckled softly to himself, satisfied with his strategic choice and relieved that he wouldn’t have to endure the same chaos he had the day before.
