Chapter 383 Who’s The Playgirl?
The public was already accustomed to seeing Hera with her many suitors, and photos of her with them had become a routine. Another picture of her holding hands with them wouldn’t make much of a difference; if anything, it would just boost her trending status and increase her influence.
With that thought, Hera set aside her worries and entered the Golden Dragon Pavilion. Inside, they came across Gerald, who was busy on the phone. The moment he noticed Hera arriving with a different companion, he visibly flinched, freezing for a second as he stared at her in surprise. Hera responded with nothing more than a wry smile.
After a brief pause, Gerald’s reaction shifted into a wide grin, a knowing look in his eyes. If anyone were thrilled to see Hera handling the male leads and spending time with them, it would be Gerald. He was fully supportive of her forming a marriage alliance with all six men, and the sight only seemed to please him more.
He had even been worried about the possibility of Hera developing a favorite—something that seemed inevitable and could cause dissatisfaction among the others. But now, seeing her make an effort to spend time with everyone in her harem, Gerald felt reassured and at ease.
Yes, Gerald already regarded the six men as Hera’s personal harem, and himself as her trusted advisor.
Gerald couldn’t suppress his smile as he approached Hera’s group. The manager of the racecourse immediately spotted him and straightened up in recognition, a smile spreading across his face. "Mr. Troy!" he called out, and heads turned toward Gerald upon hearing the manager’s excited greeting.
Gerald, smiling like a fox, extended his hand for a handshake with the manager while stealing a glance at Hera, whose face was still slightly flushed, her lips swollen. His grin only widened, his eyes narrowing into slits, amused by the sight. Hera, feeling the urge to hide, didn’t need to hear Gerald’s thoughts to know what was running through his head. After all, he had brought up the idea of the marriage alliance before, and from the look on his face, it seemed he’d happily encourage her toward it, all with that same doting smile.
Hera couldn’t quite tell whether Gerald was more in love with the idea of the Avery family gaining more strength through the support of six powerful families or if he simply enjoyed watching her love life unfold before him. Either way, she felt like she was being put on the spot. Fortunately, she was an actress at heart. After regaining her composure, she masked her emotions with a poker face, pretending to be completely unfazed.
Gerald casually strolled over to Hera, Dave, and Zhane with a teasing grin. "We meet again, Young Miss," he remarked playfully. Hera had to resist the urge to strangle him, as his tone made her feel like she was being painted as a playgirl, someone who toys with a different man every day. Not that he was entirely wrong, but it still felt wrong and left a sour taste in her mouth.
Gerald feigned innocence, pretending his words carried no hidden meaning, before turning to face Dave and Zhane. Zhane extended his hand toward Gerald, his expression calm and composed. "It’s nice to see you again, Mr. Troy," Zhane began. "I can’t thank you enough for your help a few weeks ago at the Dragon Palace Hotel. When Hera was almost attacked, your quick response allowed us to get her out unharmed. If it weren’t for you, I’m afraid that lunatic might have seriously hurt her."
