Zen sneered. "So, she generously shared her only food with everyone in the bonfire earlier, so what? So that she can have a free pass in our food?"
"Come on man, that’s ungentlemanly. You could be a bit more considerate. She’s got nothing else to eat," another participant chided.
"Then why don’t you share some of the supplies you have with her, hmm?" Zen sarcastically added.
"I only have a few loaves of bread," he admitted, his voice trailing off as he lowered his head.
"Then why didn’t you go up the mountain to find some food if you didn’t have enough?" Hera interjected casually, munching on her food as if the conversation were nothing more than a simple discussion. "Didn’t the Director mention that we could go up the mountain to forage for anything so we could manage until tomorrow?"
Zen echoed Hera’s reminder. "Exactly. The Director clearly said we could go up the mountain. Hera and Xavier took the initiative to gather supplies, while instead of doing the same, you’re here eyeing their provisions. Pathetic," he added, unable to suppress a snort at his own words.
"I-I’m sorry... I didn’t mean to eat someone else’s food. I truly didn’t intend to... I’m sorry if I misunderstood what Hera said," Alice stammered, her voice trembling as tears streamed down her cheeks like a faulty faucet.
No one wanted to dispute her excuse, but the silent Xavier did. "If you were truly sorry, you would have left the moment we told you to. Your excuse is weak and hardly believable. Hera already reminded you to cook your own food, yet you still expected her to invite you to share hers? Stop making excuses." Xavier didn’t sugarcoat his words, bluntly calling her out. Alice burst into tears and fled back to her room.
But no one dared to call out Xavier for being harsh on Alice. With Xavier and Hera having shared their supplies, no one dared to covet them anymore. Even Minerva remained silent the whole time, fearful of facing another verbal attack from Xavier and losing face in front of everyone.
