Shao walked down the dim hallway like a ghost with a pulse, the pillow clutched tightly to his chest as if letting go would unravel the tight knot in his chest.
He didn’t even care where he was headed anymore. All he wanted was to bury his flushed face into the bed, press it down into the pillow, and pray the raging thoughts inside him would go quiet.
The hallway ended. He stood in front of the room. His room. He reached for the door, planning to knock, maybe mumble an excuse, when—
The door creaked open halfway before he could touch it.
Yunfeng stood there.
His usually impassive face was now sharp with emotion. The shadows in the room behind him made his newly changed blue-green eyes burn like twin flames. They weren’t just glaring—they were challenging.
Shao blinked, startled. "Why aren’t you opening the door all the way?"
Yunfeng didn’t answer at first. Just stared at him in that eerily silent, smoldering way that made Shao’s skin itch with unease.
Yunfeng growled "Shift rooms. Send Jai and Kailun here."
The words slammed into Shao’s chest like a punch. He stiffened, brows knitting.
"What?" His voice was sharper than he intended. "Why should he come here?"
