Chapter 656: Shop and Rewards

"Hello, what are your wares?"

Kiernan walked to the merchant stand and asked the mute-looking merchant that was standing behind it.

The merchant nodded with a greeting and flicked his hand.

A holographic interface appeared before Kiernan, displaying a variety of items for sale.

[Master Dungeon Shop]

[Reward Items]

***

’Reward items. Right, I must’ve received rewards from defeating the previous masters. I should check them out first.’

Kiernan thought to himself and tapped the [Reward Items] selection in the interface, and five items appeared before him.

[Master of the Stone Echo Style - Defeated - Reward: The Crystal Broadsword]

A broadsword made of crystal appeared in Kiernan’s hand. It had a sharp edge and a beautiful glow to it. The handle was comfortable to grip, fitting perfectly in Kiernan’s hand, and it was long as if it had been custom-made for him.

The broad blade was thick and sturdy.

’Interesting. It’s definitely a sword created by a master blacksmith.’

He thought to himself, and then he stored the sword inside his inventory.

At that moment, he checked the second reward.

[Master of the Devil Flame Style - Defeated - Reward: Pill of Flame Resistance]

A pill appeared in Kiernan’s hand. It was a small, fiery red pill that emitted heat.

’A pill that gives me resistance to fire. That is a good one.’

Kiernan popped the pill into his mouth and swallowed. His body turned warm for a second. It was then subdued.

[Master of the One Punch Style - Defeated - Reward: Scroll of One Punch Technique]

A scroll appeared in Kiernan’s hand, and he curiously unfurled it to check it out. It showed how to learn the One Punch technique.

’I think it is a good technique? However, compared to Iron Style, it is mediocre, I suppose, but maybe I can teach this to one of my future students.

’If this technique allows you to defeat any opponent in one punch, it can be used as a trump card or something.’

Kiernan thought and stored it inside his inventory.

[Master of the Mirroring Style - Defeated - Reward: Copy Doll]

A faceless doll appeared before Kiernan. It looked like a human doll. Human-sized, its featureless face staring blankly ahead.

’It can copy a person?’

Kiernan thought and imagined the doll to look just like him. It turned into him, but it couldn’t replicate his martial rank.

He took the Iron Style stance. The doll copied him. A perfect replica.

’Interesting. It cannot be used in combat, as it cannot replicate martial rank, but it is a good teaching tool for my students.’

Kiernan thought and stored the Copy Doll inside his inventory and then checked out the last reward that he acquired.

[Master of the Taekwondo Style - Defeated - Reward: Pill of Kicking Mastery]

’A pill to increase my skill in kicking? Well, don’t mind if I do; it doesn’t hurt to get better at something like that.’

Kiernan popped the pill into his mouth and swallowed.

He could immediately feel like his legs had turned stronger and more agile. His kicks were going to be much more powerful now.

’Now, what is in the shop, and please don’t be too expensive. I cannot afford to spend too much money right now, as the dojo’s rent is expensive!’

Kiernan tapped on the [Master Dungeon Shop] button, and a selection of several items appeared before him on the holographic screen.

’Awakening Boost.’

Kiernan immediately checked that description, and it was exactly what he was looking for. A way to help a person to awaken their martial soul.

It was rather good of a coincidence.

He believed that the system must’ve added that and other dojo-related training equipment to help him teach his future students.

’I think there might be more shops over in level 10, et cetera, but for now, these will do greatly for what I have in mind.’

Kiernan thought, and since the cost wasn’t enormous, he purchased Awakening Boost first and stored it inside his inventory.

He also purchased Elixir of Swift Recovery. It would help a person to recover from bruises and other minor injuries.

After storing that in his inventory, he checked other items and bought Spectral Jump Rose and Endless Climb Rope, as those would help greatly in improving the physical conditioning of his students.

Spectral Jump Rope was rather special. While a person was jumping ropes with that, the rope would gradually increase in speed, going against the user’s intended pace.

Endless Climb Rope was just a climbing rope, but when someone was climbing it, they would feel like they were climbing an infinite staircase.

The rope seemed short enough, but because of its mystical powers, it would continue to extend infinitely, making the climb seem endless.

Lastly, Kiernan bought the Lantern of the Eternal Training. It would increase the motivation of every person inside the dojo as long as it was lit.

There were other items that he thought about checking out, but he didn’t really need them at that moment, so he closed the shop.

"I’d like to exit this place, if possible."

Kiernan said to the merchant.

The merchant bowed and flicked his hand, and a gateway appeared behind Kiernan. It led straight back to the office where he came from.

Kiernan thanked the merchant and stepped through. He appeared back in the office. The gateway disappeared behind him.

He stretched his arms above his head and walked out of the office to check on Aoi. She was sweeping the yard, preparing the place for tomorrow.

’...The Lantern.’

Kiernan pulled out the lantern from his inventory and hung it from the ceiling of the dojo. He didn’t light it up, as it wasn’t needed quite yet.

"You are back? Where did you get this lantern?"

Aoi asked after seeing him return and thought that the lantern looked quite fancy, as if it were something from, like, three hundred years ago.

"I happened to find it. I think it looks fitting to the dojo."

Kiernan said, tapped his finger against the side of the lantern, and watched it swing back and forth gently in the breeze.
