My Ex-Husband Begged Me to Take Him Back

Chapter 275: Erica’s nervousness

Erica and Lydia arrived at the hospital after hearing the attack on Dylan. As Lydia turned off the car engine, she reached for the door handle, ready to step out. But Erica quickly grabbed her arm, halting her.

"Mom, wait."

Lydia frowned, irritation flickering across her face. "What now?"

Erica glanced nervously at the imposing hospital building before them. The butler was also getting treatment there. She hesitated to go in.

"The butler...he is here too," Erica said anxiously. "What if he wakes up? Should we really leave things like this?"

Lydia’s expression shifted to one of disdain, her patience wearing thin. She let out an exasperated sigh. "That man is in a coma, Erica," she said sharply. "The doctor made it clear—his brain suffered severe damage. At his age, the chances of recovery are slim to none. And even if, by some miracle, he regains consciousness, he’s likely to lose his memory."

Erica still looked unconvinced. "But what if he doesn’t? What if he remembers everything and exposes us?" Her voice wavered, betraying the fear gnawing at her. "If he can’t recover, why not...just end it? Why waste money keeping him alive?"

"We can’t afford to be reckless," Lydia snapped, a mix of frustration and caution flashing in her eyes. "I’m not paying for his treatment; the family’s fund covers it. But more importantly, we need to keep a low profile. If we do anything rash, people will start asking questions."

"But Mom...what if he wakes up?" Erica pressed, and her fear was evident.
