"What is there to be so furious about?" Julia’s sharp tone sliced through the tension before Thomas could reply. "Ava is an adult, capable of making her own decisions. We can’t control her life. Besides, it’s not unusual for separated couples to reconcile. If Ava and Dylan want to give their marriage another shot, who will stop them?"
Ethan barely acknowledged her outburst, his focus unwaveringly on Thomas. "You know the animosity Dylan harbors toward you. He is out for revenge, and yet you are letting Ava walk back into his trap."
"What ridiculous nonsense!" Julia spat, her face flush with anger.
"Julia," Thomas cut in. "Call the driver, take the bag, and wait for me in the car."
"I’m not leaving!" Julia countered. "This boy has no right to stand here and hurl accusations. He is here to deliver the luggage, and his job is done. How dare he question you?"
She stepped closer to Ethan, her glare fierce. "Listen, young man. This family has treated you with respect, but that doesn’t give you the right to interfere in our personal matters."
"Julia, leave," Thomas commanded, his tone turning cold. "I’ll be right there."
Julia’s lips tightened, her frustration evident. She wanted to argue, but she knew better than to defy Thomas when he was like this. Shooting Ethan with a withering glare, she grabbed the suitcase and stormed out of the room.
Thomas rose from the bed with deliberate grace, his demeanor calm, yet the quiet authority in his stance made it clear that he was not a man to be challenged. "Don’t let Julia’s words trouble you," he started slowly.
