Chapter 210: Cover things up
Justin rubbed his forehead, clearly at a loss for what to do next. "Should I check the other hotels in the area?" he ventured cautiously.
"No," Dylan denied the suggestion firmly. His restless eyes scanned his surroundings, and then they locked onto the surveillance camera above the hotel entrance. "Why don’t you check the CCTV footage from here?" he asked sharply, his hope flickering to life.
Justin shifted uncomfortably. "I already asked about it," he admitted. "The cameras are down. They said there is no footage available."
"Bullshit, they all are lying." Dylan’s face twisted in frustration. "They are all lying—trying to cover up what happened here. Call the cops. I’ll sue them for obstruction."
"Wait, calm down," Justin interjected. "We can’t involve the police—not yet. You said you injured someone during the fight, right? That could complicate things for you."
Dylan scoffed, turning away, his hands balling into fists. Helpless annoyance simmered within him.
"In smaller hotels like this, it’s not uncommon for surveillance cameras to be inactive," Justin explained. "It doesn’t necessarily mean there is a cover-up. Let me figure out another way to find out what exactly happened."
"You still don’t believe me." Dylan’s eyes narrowed, his frustration spilling over. He could clearly sense his hesitation to trust his words. "You think I was too drunk to remember what actually happened."
Justin parted his lips, his hesitation clear. "It’s not that I don’t trust you," he started, choosing his words carefully. "I just can’t be sure if this is the right hotel. I don’t what you saw, who you encountered."
